Dartmoor Zoological Society Website

Our relationship with Dartmoor Zoo (DZS) goes back to 2017. From initially helping them manage their old website and dramatically reducing their web hosting costs, designing park signage and maps, through to creating a brand new, easy-to-manage and accessible website during lock-downs 1, 2 and 3. It’s been emotional.

“Simon provided an excellent service designing our new website. Huge thank you to Simon and Kieron! What a team they make, brilliant to work with, so supportive and they have delivered an incredible website for us. Compared to what we had before it’s made our jobs so much easier and has definitely contributed to us having one of the best summers ever at DZS!”
Coral Jonas – Chief Operating Officer

Dartmoor Zoological Society is a charity, completely reliant on ticket income, donations and purchases to keep the vital work going. Therefore, whilst they are still the beloved home of the ‘We Bought a Zoo’ story, a new story led by the charity is developing, and we’re a little part of that story.

Wanting to work with a local charity, and keen followers in their conservation, breeding and research projects, I offered to create a new website for the charity.

Their previous website was impossible to manage, worked poorly on mobile devices, inaccessible, was unstable and had unnecessary high monthly hosting costs.

A new website, designed and built from scratch, meant the painful legacy of the old website was wiped clean.

The design is simple and mobile friendly, easy to manage content and accessible by all website users, including those with certain disabilities.

Hosting costs were slashed and the site is now stable, ensuring the charities income keeps flowing through ticket and merchandising sales.

Dare I say a ‘roaring success’…!
